I was born and raised in Holland, moved to Denmark in 1999.  I started cycling in 1985 and in 1993 was selected for the Dutch national team.  Here I drove races at international level and had many exciting cycling experiences.

I have up through my cycling career lived with being a diabetic, this meant that unfortunately I could never become a professional cyclist. I therefore chose to focus on my education, and lægde cycling at elite level on the shelf. I'm still big bicycle enthusiast, but with a focus on esktrem-race over 200 km. I find great pleasure in writing about optimizing my training and how it affects the management of my diabetes. I have two blog sites, one is "altomcykling.dk" where I write about everything related to cycling, my trips and experiences. The second blog called "diabetesogmotion.dk" where the focus is placed on managing my diabetes in conjunction with exercise.

I also have something more specific of my life with diabetes but this is a longer history (it can be found at: http://www.jdrf.dk/da/rtc-09.htm)
